Web Query

Hi

I use a web query to download tables from a web site which populates a worksheet which works fine. However one of the tables is quite a big table but I only actually need two rows from the table for my data anaylsis.

Is it possible to write a web query which only brings back certain rows from a web table?

Regards
Dave

RE: Web Query

Hi Dave

Thanks for the question

I'm pretty certain that the answer to your question is no. I have investigated the web query tool and I can see no facility for filtering the data. It would also on reflection be difficult to do as tables on a web site often lack column headings (field names) so it would be difficult to identify columns to filter.

I will however continue to explore things and if I find anything different I will let you know

Stephen

RE: Web Query

Thanks Stephen I thought as much. If you do find a solution though I would be very interested.

Excel tip:

Stop Formula Returning A "#DIV/0" Error

If a formula returns a #DIV/0 error message there is a way to avoid such results.

For example the formula =A1/B1 will return a #DIV/0 if B1 is empty or a zero.

If you protect your formulas with the ISERROR function, the formula will then look like this:

=IF(ISERROR(A1/B1),0,A1/B1)

In plain English: should the result of A1 divided by B1 be an error change the result to 0 else show the result of A1/B1.
