Data Validation, Named Ranges and Indirect references
I want to make a drop-down list (named range) that refers to two other non-adjacent named ranges using an indirect reference as data validation. I want the drop down list to be consecutive, even though there may be blanks in my reference addresses, I could do it with a nested if function but with XL 2003 limited the number of nests to 6 in my case this won't work. Any ideas (besides an upgrade to 2007)? Thanks, Paul
RE: Data Validation, Named Ranges and Indirect references
Hi Paul
Thank you for your question - if you could send an example file through to info@stl-training.co.uk and mark it for my attention. I'll take a look and see if I can suggest a solution.
Kind regards,
Andrew
RE: Data Validation, Named Ranges and Indirect references
Hi Paul
I haven't found a way to achieve this directly using the end-user Excel interface. I believe some programming using Visual Basic for Applications would achieve the result you are looking for.
We do run VBA courses in Excel. You can find further information here:

I'm sorry we weren't able to help.
Kind regards,
Andrew
