Bullet points/numbering

When I come to the end of a bullet point/numbered list I press enter twice but cannot get back to the alignment of the previous text. The tab ends up in line with the last bullet point not in line with the reset of the letter.

RE: Bullet points/numbering

Hello Nicola

Thank you for your question.

After you have pressed the Enter key, try pressing the Backspace key too, to move your position back toward the left margin.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards
Amanda

RE: Bullet points/numbering

It just goes back up to the list then. All I want it to do is to go back in line with the text above. Is there a way to do a tab but in reverse?

RE: Bullet points/numbering

Hi Nicola

Try the Shift and Tab keys together and see if this helps.

Kind regards
Amanda

RE: Bullet points/numbering

Hi Amanda,

Unfortunately this is not working either. If I try shift and tab at a point where there already is a tab it goes back but at the end of the bullet pointed list it does nothing.

If you try using the Format Painter, does this work for you? Select a paragraph above the list that starts in the position that you want to also start in underneath your list; then click on Format Painter (looks like a little paint brush - on the standard toolbar in 2003; on the Home ribbon in 2007).

After you have selected Format Painter, click in the paragraph underneath the list where you want to change the position of the cursor and see if the cursor goes to the correct position.

Kind regards

RE: Bullet points/numbering

Yes that does work - is that the only way to do it then? Do you know why this would keep happening?

RE: Bullet points/numbering

It might be something to do with the styles in the document you are working on, but difficult to say without seeing the document. I'm happy to have a look at it if it's something you can send through on email, then if there's any easier way to change back to the formatting of the previous paragraphs (before the bullet points) I can let you know.

If you want to send the document through, my email is amanda@stl-training.co.uk

Word tip:

Print Two pages on one horizontal sheet

1. Choose File Page Setup, select the Margins tab.
2. In the Page Setup dialog box, enable the 2 pages per sheet check box, the Preview window shows the new layout.
3. Select Paper Size Tab, under Orientation, select Landscape. Again the preview window shows the effect of that selection.
4. Click OK, the result will be two pages printed on one sheet of landscape paper with normal margins, headers and footers. (Ideal for booklets)
