Excel column numbering

When doing my recent course I noticed that one of the spreadsheets had numbered columns (rather than lettered) - how can I change mine to show numbering?

RE: Excel column numbering

Hello Linda

Thank you for your question.

You can display numbers instead of letters at the top of your columns by changing Excel to 'R1C1 reference style'. This will also change how the cells in your spreadsheet are referred to as well, e.g. cell A1 becomes R1C1.

To change to R1C1 reference style, go to Tools - Options - General tab, and tick R1C1 reference style. Click OK.

Kind regards
Amanda

Excel tip:

New to Excel 2010 - Sparklines!

Excel 2010 includes a new feature called Sparklines which are tiny charts that fit into a single cell and plot data in cells from the worksheet. There are a host of formatting and styles that can be applied to them and they are really quite interesting.

>insert
>sparklines
>Choose any style you want

You will be asked for the range and it will automatically select the cell your in to insert the sparklines.
