Protecting a cell?

Hello,

Further to my training course that i attended on Monday, please can you tell me where i can find the section on protection a cell, that prevents another user seeing what the sum is.

I would appreciate it if you can let me know the answer.

Kind Regards

RE: Protecting a cell?

Hi Steve,

To protect a cell in an Excel worksheet, use the Tools > Protection> Protect Sheet menu option. Worksheet protection will affect /apply only to "Locked" cells, and by default Excel cells are locked. A password can be enabled to restrict user access.

To unlock an Excel cell or range of cells, select the cell(s), click on the Format > Cells menu and select the Protection tab sheet. Untick the Locked option. Please also note that to not display the contents of cells in the formula, such as a Sum function, tick Hidden.

Where you state, ..."prevent other user seeing what the sum is", I understand that to mean the sum formula in the formula bar.

Hope this helps

Excel tip:

Switching Between Spreadsheets

As the Alt+Tab key switches between loaded applications or files, Ctrl+Tab switches between loaded or open Excel files. Hold down the Ctrl key until you have tabbed to the correct spreadsheet.
