how do i create a ongoing yearly template where I can fill in monthly figures on seperate sheets

RE: templates

Hello Ruby

Thank you for your question and welcome to the forum.

You would have a couple of options:

1. Create one Excel file, where you set up your January sheet (for example); then right-click on the January sheet and tick the Copy box so that you can create duplicate sheets for the other months in the year. Then save as a template. That way, you can generate a new file from the template each year.

2. Create an Excel template, that contains a spreadsheet template for one month only. Then start a new file from the template for, say, January and save it.

In each new month, start a file from your template and ensure you have the file with the January figures in it open.

Once you have filled in your data for the new month, right-click on the sheet tab, select Move or Copy and then use the dropdown arrow next to the To Book option to select the file that has your January figures in it to move the figures for the new month into the same file.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards
Amanda

Excel tip:

Sorting data stored in rows

Primarily Excel is set up to sort data that is stored in columns rather than rows.

It is possible to get Excel to sort data stored in rows however.

Click in the row you want to sort, or select the cells in the rows you wish to sort.

Go to Data - Sort, then go to the Options button in the bottom left corner of the Sort dialogue box.
