How do I protect the worksheet name from being altered whilst allowing other items on the worksheet to be changed by users?

RE: Protection

Hello Sally

Thank you for your question and welcome to the forum.

If all you want to be able to do is stop people from renaming sheets, then try the following and see if this is a workable solution for you.

1. Unlock all the cells in the spreadsheet first (if you want people to be able to edit all the spreadsheet cells). To do this, click on the grey square between where you see the letter A at the top of column A, and where you see 1 at the side of row 1. This selects all the cells in the spreadsheet. Go to Format - Cells - Protection, and uncheck the Lock tickbox, click OK.

2. Now protect the workbook structure. Go to Tools - Protection - Protect Workbook. Check that there is a tick next to Structure, enter a password if you wish (which you'll need to reconfirm once you click OK).

Now when you right-click on a sheet tab, the only available option should be to Select All Sheets - all other options are greyed out.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards
Amanda
