Countif?

I want to count up the number of times data in two or more ranges of cells meets multiple criterion. The ranges are not the same size so countifs won't work but I don't know what else to use.

RE: Countif?

Hello Fiona

Thank you for your question.

Would DCOUNT work? You can use this to count if your data is arranged in columns with headings.

Kind regards
Amanda

RE: Countif?

Hi Amanda,

Doesn't Dcount just work for numeric values? One of my columns contained text. As my problem was that my ranges were not the same size, I created a new column with one set of criteria that I needed to use then used Countifs to find matching criteria in two columns of equal size and that seemed to work. Worked out the solution by trial and error but seem to have got a result.

Regards,

Fiona

Excel tip:

Using the Quick Access Toolbar in Excel2010

The Quick Access Toolbar is included in virtually every Office product, including Outlook 2010, Word 2010, Excel 2010, and PowerPoint 2010.

You will find the Quick Access Toolbar in the top-left side of the window. To begin, click the Customize button (it's the little black arrow at the end of the toolbar).

Simply click the commands you want to include.

Virtually any command can be added to the Quick Access Toolbar. Click the More Commands option and a new window will open from where you can browse the commands including those not on the ribbon.
