Data validation

How do I validate a group of cells to create a list

RE: Data validation

Hi Luisa,

Creating a custom list in Excel can either be undertaken by typing the items directly or extracting the information from a pre-created column of data.

Go to Tools>Options, from the tabs choose Custom Lists and in the list entries box type your items separated by a comma, if you wish to use a pre-created list click the Import list from cells box and select (highlight) the required information in your worksheet, click the Import button and your items will be displayed in the List entries box. click OK and you will be able to use the list at any time (using the Fill button or the Edit>Fill commands... Excel tip:

Saving your Excel Spreadsheet as a CSV File

In situations where you need to save your Excel spreadsheet as a CSV file, follow these simple steps.

Click the File tab and click Save As.
Enter a name in the File name field.
Click the drop-down arrow next to the Save as type field to select the file type. Scroll down the list and select CSV (comma delimited) (*.CSV)
Click Save

The data will now be saved to a separate CSV file which can be used in different applications.
