Transfer excel data to powerpoint document for a presentation

can complex data ( ie a timetable, etc) be transferred from an excel document to a powerpoint presentation and how would you make it fit?

RE: transfer excel data to powerpoint document for a presentati

Hello Paula

Thank you for your question and welcome to the forum.

You can do this, within reason. Obviously in PowerPoint you are confined by the amount of space you have available on a slide.

If you select the Excel data that you want to put into the PowerPoint presentation and copy it, go into PowerPoint and paste the data, you should see a little picture of a clipboard appear underneath the data you pasted into PowerPoint.

If you click on the clipboard, it will give you options of how to paste the data. Probably the Excel Table or Picture of Table options would be best.

If you select the Excel Table option, you will be able to double-click on the data and edit it using Excel, so if you wanted to adjust column or row sizes for example you would be able to do this.

The other way to do this is instead of pasting a copy of the data into PowerPoint, you could link to the spreadsheet instead.

I hope this helps.
Amanda

Excel tip:

Select only cell that contain text to lock format

For selecting cells that only contain Text in Excel

By selecting cells that only contain text, you can delete, fill or protect cells of this type.

Use short cut to Go to box (F5) or Edit, Go to
In the dialog box, click special button & select Constants and only check text or any other desired type.

Click OK.

And text cells will all be highlighted for you to apply format. Please note only works on one sheet at a time.
