How do I best create a date specific line chart within excel

RE: Excel

Hi Ian

Thank you for your question and welcome to the forum.

To create a line chart in Excel:

1. Select the data you wish to have represented in the chart - in this case, the dates and corresponding data you wish to plot.

2. Go to the Chart Wizard on the standard toolbar.

3. At step 1, select Line as the type of chart you wish to create.

4. At step 2, check your chart looks ok. If it doesn't you may need to Cancel out of the Chart Wizard and try reselecting your data.

5. At step 3, add your chart and axes titles.

6. At step 4, decide where you want the chart to go - on the same sheet as the data, or on a new sheet by itself.

Kind regards
Amanda

Excel tip:

Creating a range of monthly payments as text

You could use a formula to create a range of payment ie. payment amount for x% to y% rate with fixed terms and principle.

The text that would be "between Xamount and Yamount".

Here is how to do it.

1 Use the PMT function to get your monthly payments figure or whatever frequency of payments that you choose he start range.

See PMT under Excel Help

2. Nest these in the ROUND function to round decimals see ROUND under Excel Help

3. Concatenate this using "&" and concatenate " to " and concatenate "Between ".

4. Concatenate the above to PMT function for the end range

ie.

="Between "&ROUND((PMT1),decimal places)&" and "&ROUND((PMT2),decimal places)
