RE: PowerPoint - Template compatibility between 2007 and 2003

Dear Dianne

Thank you for attending PowerPoint 2007 Intro course. I hope you enjoyed the course and benefited from it.

PowerPoint 2007 version files have pptx extension and PowerPoint 2003 version files have ppt.

This makes the using of the files more difficult. Please remember normally any file created in previous version can be opened and modified in latest version but any file created in latest version cannot be opened or modified in the older version.

If you create a template file in PowerPoint 2007 and wish to use it in PowerPoint 2003 then the best course of action would be to choose 97-2003 template from the save as type drop down list.

Please ensure that you haven't used any features that are specific to PowerPoint 2007. If you try ot save it with those features a compatibility checker will warn you what features will be lost.

I hope this has answered your query.

If this has answered your query then I would request you to please mark the question as resolved!! If not and you have a specific question related to this then please post it as a new question and we should be able to provide you the solution for it!!

Kindest Regards

PowerPoint tip:

Running PowerPoint Show Without Opening PowerPoint

If you double click on a PowerPoint show, PowerPoint opens and shows the first slide in development mode. To prevent this do the following:

Find your PowerPoint file.

Right click on the file's icon with your mouse.

Select 'Show' from the menu that is displayed. PowerPoint opens and runs your slide Show. When the show finishes, PowerPoint closes.

Your audience never sees the PowerPoint working window at all.

To make it easier place a shortcut to the file on your desktop for quick access.
