Checkboxes

I have inserted checkboxes and know how to set the default to checked or unchecked. But I can't find out how to get them to change from one to the other by a simple click. The "enabled" is already selected, I thought that would do it but it doesn't

RE: checkboxes

Hi Liz,

I think by default, the 'protect form' option is enabled. On the Forms toolbar, there should be a padlock icon called Protect Form. Turning this off means the user cannot type other text, but they can use form elements, such as checkboxes and text entry.

Does this fix it?

RE: checkboxes

Thanks for your reply. However, I can't find any padlock. I've gone to the forms toolbar and its not there, not even if I go to add/remove. I'm using MS Office 2003. Any other ideas?

RE: checkboxes

Hi Liz,

I too am using Word 2003. Please see the attached screenshots.

If there is no 'protect form' icon on your Form toolbar, you can add it again by following these steps.

1) Ensure Form toolbar is enabled and showing on your screen.
2) Go to View menu -> Toolbars -> Customise...
3) Select the Commands tab
4) In the Categories list, select 'All commands'
5) Now in the Commands list, scroll down to Protect Form (hint, you can select the first command, then type 'Prot' on the keyboard and it will jump you down)
6) Now drag that command with your mouse to the end of the Form toolbar on your screen.

Let me know how you get on.

Regards, Rich

Word tip:

Adjusting the font spacing in headings in Word 2010

Text space can be adjusted to ensure that a heading fits on a single line, rather than, for example, wrapping onto a second.

Select a line of text, right click and select Font from the context menu. The widths of the letters can be adjusted by selecting a new size from the scale drop-down menu and you can use the up and down arrows in the spacing section to expand or compress the space.
