How do I sum a column?

RE: Excel Sum Function

Hi James,

Thanks for your question.

There are two ways to sum a column of numbers:
1) Click on the cell where you will put the total. Click on the Autosum button Σ, then select the whole column of cells and press Return/Enter.

2) Select the column of numbers first then click on the Autosum button Σ.
TIP: quick way to select a column of data, click on the first cell > press CTRL+SHIFT+ ↓ (down arrow)

See if this helps.

Kind regards,

When data is held in a block, however large, use the Ctrl key with your cursors to move quickly to the far edge of the block. Works with all 4 direction keys.
