How do I edit my data source for a chart?

Edited on Thu 24 Apr 2008, 09:22

RE: Excel

Hi Sue, Thank you for your post, welcome to the forum, in answer to your question, the data source for your chart is either on the same sheet, or if your chart is on a chart sheet will be in another sheet or even workbook. To edit the data on the chart, you must return to the original data, and make your changes there, the chart will immediatly reflect these changes. To quickly get back to the source data, if you are on a separate sheet, click the Chart to select it, then choose the menu command Chart>Source Data, this will open the data sheet and show the Source data dialog box which allows you to make your required changes.
I hope that has helped, best regards Pete

Excel tip:

Make a quick copy of a worksheet

Hold down the Ctrl key, then click and drag on a sheet tab to make a copy of that sheet. Though this process usefully copies the formats of the original sheet, note that any Range Names you have on the original sheet will be duplicated too.

To make a copy of a worksheet's contents and formats without duplicating range names: (1) Ensure that you have a blank worksheet to paste to. (2) On the sheet to copy, click on the sheet selection square to the left of Column A's heading to select the whole sheet. (2) Copy the whole sheet. (3) Paste to the blank worksheet.
