Pivot Tables - Web

When trying to get pivot tables from the web, how does one avoid getting any error messages? Also, is the data refreshed every time the file is opened?

RE: Pivot Tables - Web

Hi Samia

Thank you for your question; and welcome to the forum.

If you get any error messages when trying to import data from a web page, it may be related to the security settings in Internet Explorer; or there may be other causes so this is difficult to give a definitive answer on.

With regards to refreshing web data, do the following:
Go to Data - Import External Data - New Web Query. Once you have selected the data to import, and clicked the Import button, click the Properties... button at the next screen. There you have options for refresh control which you can set. Click OK, and OK to set the refresh controls and import the data.

I hope this helps.
Amanda

Excel tip:

Customize the toolbar in Excel 2010

You can create your own toolbar which contains your favourite or most used tools. This will make using Excel much more efficient. To do this, you need to click on View, then select Customize Quick access Toolbars and then select Customize. A list of tools will then appear on the screen of which you can add or remove them as you please.
