What is a Macro?

I have heard the mention of Macros and it is a term I have heard used, but what exactly is a Macro?

RE: What is a Macro?

I meant it is a term I have heard on here as well as at my place of work. The question above looks like I have repeated myself!!

RE: What is a Macro?

a macro is a sequence of steps / commands that can be stored and then recalled with a single click or keyboard stroke.

For example, in Excel you may want to create a button that when pressed, will change the margins of a page, add gridlines, and change the Font to bold. By using a Macro you could record this action, and any time you press the button, it would repeat those steps to your active worksheet

RE: What is a Macro?

Does Macro do more than just storing certain commands? How is it different from VBA?

If you want to change the width of the columns in your Excel 2010 spreadsheet, making them either larger or smaller, here's how:

In the Cells group on the Home tab, click Format.

Hover over the section called Cell Size and a drop down list will appear, select Default Width from this list.

In the Standard Width dialog box, enter the size you want to set as the default width and click OK.
