Addresses on mail merge

can i get addresses from another sytem and apply them to word

RE: Addresses on mail merge

Hi Louisa,

Yes, you are able to merge information from another system into a Word document, very easily. On stage 3 of the mailmerge process when you specify that you wish to use 'Existing Data' you have to browse for the data source. Which opens up a separate window for you to browse your computers files. At the bottom of this dialogue box you are able to specify the document type that you are looking for - for example an Excel Spreadsheet or an Access table. As long as the data file you want to merge has a structure with column headings and then rows of data directly beneath these headings, then the Word Mailmerge function is usually quite capable of using the data.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards

Carmen

Word tip:

What use is the Status Bar in Word 2010

Do you know what the status bar is used for in Word 2010?

The Status Bar provides information about the current document including:

Page number in document: indicates number of pages in the document the number of the current page (i.e. the page in which the cursor is located at that point in time)

Number of words in document: shows the total number of words used in the current document. If you want to know how many words there are in a section, then highlight that section and look at the word count again.
