Docx default file format

In Microsoft Word 2007 (and presumably in other MS Office applications) the default file format reverts to docx every time the program is started. How can I change this?

RE: docx default file format

Hi Simon, Thanks for the post, in answer to your question, Word 2007 will save by default to the .docx extension, if you want to change this follow these steps; Click the Office button and click the button Word Options at the bottom of the dialog box, in the dialog box that opens click the Save option, in the dialog box that then opens click the drop down Save Files in this format: and from the drop down choose the file type you wish to have as your default extension. I hope that helps best regards Pete

RE: docx default file format

Thanks Pete,
I've done this, but each time I open Word it has reverted again back to .docx

Microsoft Office tip:

Fine Tuning for AutoShapes

The Windows drawing tools are generally labelled lines, rectangles, oval, etc. Similarly in the Office Suite.

To regulate any shape, straight line, square, circle, stars, smiley faces, etc ... hold down the Shift key while you draw the shape. Remember to release the mouse button before releasing the Shift key.
