Organisation chart
Could you please let me know step by step what I have to do :-
This is a PowerPoint question:-
I am trying to do an Organisation Chart, but do not wish to use the customized organisation chart found in the Diagram Gallery. Attached please find a copy of my chart so far ( it is not finished yet).
Question: how can I ensure to get the same distance between each box? I noticed two buttons on the tool bar: Distribute rows evenly and Distribute columns evenly, but do not know how to use them properly or is there another way to sort out this problem.
Question: I am using the grid lines to line up the boxes vertically. Is there another way to line them up vertically or is this the right way?
Thank you for your assistance.
Best regards,
Christa

RE: organisation chart
Hi Christa,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. After we received your e-mail, we have added this question to the forum under your name.
For all future questions, please post directly to the forum rather than e-mailing. This will speed up the response time.
I can actually help you with this question right now.
To align or distribute objects, you first need to select all the objects on your slide that you wish to align or distribute. You can do this by selecting the objects one at a time with the mouse by holding the Control key on your keyboard. Alternatively, click and drag in some whitespace (eg. not on an object) until all the objects appear in the selction area you have dragged, then let go of mouse button.
Now that all your objects are selected, you'll need to use the drawing toolbar. This is usually at the bottom of Powerpoint. If you can't see it, go to Tools -> Customise -> Toolbars tab. Then tick the 'drawing' box and press Close.
On the drawing toolbar, you'll see a 'Draw' drop down button. Press this to see all the drawing actions. In the middle is 'align and distribute'. You'll then see all the different align and distribution options.
For your organisation chart, you will most likely need to Align to the centre, and Distribute vertically. (You will have to use the 'Draw' drop down button twice - once for each operation).
See the attached graphic for a screenshot of this.
I hope this helps you solve the problem.
If you have any more questions about this, please reply and I shall help further. Otherwise, please mark this question as resolved.
We look forward to helping you with any other Microsoft Office questions you may have.
Kind regards,
Rich
