how do you change the name of an incorrectly named field?
Go to Insert>>Name>>Define and then select from the list the name/range you want to change. Click the delete button. The name/range will be removed and you can then rename the field normally.

If you add something to the custom dictionary in Excel you cannot remove it. The way to get around this is to go into word and remove it there.
