2002 excel microsoft training - Splitting data columns

Thanks for your question.

You can use the Text to Columns Wizard to convert text that is currently stored in one column in your spreadsheet to display in mulitple columns.

What you do is select the column that has the text in it currently, then go to Data - Text to Columns on the menu bar.

Choose Delimited at step 1, then click Next.

At step 2, choose the 'delimiter' that separates the pieces of text you want to put into different columns, for example, if there is a space between each piece of text and this is where you want the columns to be created, then tick the box next to Space at step 2. Check the preview showing at the bottom of this second step to see whether the text is separating into columns or not. Just try ticking different delimiters until you can see the columns showing in the preview. Click Next.

Then at step 3 you can choose particular formats for your columns if you wish, otherwise click Finish.
