Thank you for your question.
The purpose of a macro is to get an application to execute/run a series of steps for you to achieve an end result. Macros are created to cut down the time taken to perform tasks that you are doing frequently to get the same end result.
In the 2007 version of PowerPoint the macro recorder has actually been removed. Any macros that you want to create in PowerPoint 2007 have to be written in VBA code.
