what is the difference between paste as GIF and paste as PNG?

Thank you for your question.

As these two are different formats for images, I think the difference would show depending on what you were pasting. GIF format is generally better for something that is solid colour/s whereas PNG would be better for something that has a range of different colours or a lot of detail in it.
