I created a waterfall chart with the data coming from a table but somehow one of the bars doesn't recognize the numbers.
RE: Excel
It sounds like one of the bars in your Excel waterfall chart isn't displaying correctly because it's not recognizing the numbers from your table. Here are a few things to check that might help resolve the issue:
1. Check the Data Format
Make sure the cell values in your table are actually numbers, not text that looks like numbers.
You can test this by selecting the cell and checking the format in the Number section of the Home tab.
Try using =ISNUMBER(cell) in a nearby cell to confirm.
2. Look for Blank or Hidden Values
If the cell is blank or contains a formula that returns an empty string (""), Excel might not treat it as a valid number.
Replace empty strings with 0 if appropriate.
3. Ensure the Category is Correct
In waterfall charts, each data point must be categorized correctly as:
Increase
Decrease
Total
If Excel misclassifies a value (e.g., a total as an increase), the bar might not appear as expected. You can manually set this by:
Right-clicking the bar → Set as Total (or Increase/Decrease).
4. Check for Filters or Hidden Rows
If your chart is based on a filtered table or hidden rows, some values might not be included in the chart.
5. Refresh or Recreate the Chart
Sometimes charts can glitch. Try removing and re-adding the problematic data point, or recreate the chart from scratch.
