Disappearing backgrounds on pictures
Hi, I was on a course yesterday with Carlos where we were shown how to use picture format, colors and lines to disappear a background on an image using the transparency spectrum. I thought this was wonderful as we currently have issues incorporating corporate logo into powerpoint as the box background is left around the jpeg...eg. we have london zoo in light green in a dark green box .. the logo is supposed to be used without the dark green box so we just have light green lettering overlaid on images etc
so I rushed in this morning.. and hey presto could not do it. What file type was the clipart we were using that meant we were able to disappear the background in powerpoint?
what type of file do we need to have the logo prepared in in order to be able to do this in powerpoint? eg. eps files produce perfect box-less logos - but of course we can't incorproate them into powerpoint

Thank you for your question.
I think the tool you are after is 'Set transparent colour' which is on the Picture toolbar. I'm not sure as to whether there are any definite rules as to which types of picture files it will or won't work on.
If you bring up the Picture toolbar on your screen, insert your picture, then click on the 'Set transparent colour' tool and then click on the green box in the background - see if it disappears.
Otherwise you have the option of going to Format - Picture, going to the Picture tab then choosing a different Color setting under Image control. This may not give you the exact effect you are looking for, but this will allow you to set an image as a watermark, for example. If you apply an effect and don't like it, then use Undo and try another effect.
