Curved arrow

Hello

How do I create a curved arrow?

RE: Curved arrow

Hi Natasha

Thank you for your question. You can use the built in curved arrow shapes which can be found by clicking on Insert > Shapes then either choosing from the Lines group (which has some curved thin lines) or looking at Block Shapes which are chunkier arrows.

I hope this helps - let us know if you have any further questions.

the Kind regards,
Andrew

RE: Curved arrow

Hi Andrew

I tried using both of those yesterday but neither of them are what I am looking for. If I use the block arrow and adjust it then at times they don't look like arrows anymore.
And the line shapes do not have what I am looking for either.

I am looking for a thin curved 'good' arrow, similar to the below link:

RE: Curved arrow

Hi Natasha

It looks like the line types in Excel may not provide what you are looking for. Did you find a better answer to the built in arrow shapes?

Kind regards,
Andrew

RE: Curved arrow

Hi Andrew
No I haven't found an arrow in the arrow shapes. My colleague said there is a way to do the arrows that I was in Powerpoint as he has done it years ago but he can't quite remember how to do it.

RE: Curved arrow

Hi Natasha

I wonder if the tactic your colleague was using was based on modifying a freeform shape.

First draw a simple freeform shape ( from the same Insert > Shape menu as regular arrows - just hover over the shapes in Recently used until you find “freeform" then draw a short line. It’s usually just before the line types.

With the line selected go back to the format ribbon and click the Edit shape menu, then choose Edit points

Now you can click one of the end points and whilst holding down the mouse drag the end point. A blue line appears. This line can be tilted to adjust the curve of the line. It is a bit fiddly but the curve should be smoother.

Finally format the line type to include an arrowhead.

Let me know if this helps at all.

Kind regards,
Andrew
