Presentation

What is the best method for quickly ascertaining the sense types within an audience (of people you have not met before) ahead of giving a presenation so that you can align the way you do this with the desired way of learning of the audience.

RE: Presentation

Hi Alan

Thank you for your question. The number of attendees will dictate how detailed your investigation can be.

During a presentation deliberately use vocabulary from the different sense types (Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic) and observe the response of the audience. Responses could be non-verbal (alertness, signs of agreement, signs of distraction) or vebal (questions, volunteered information).

Check in with the group by asking questions and evaluating not just the answers but the sense preferences they may indicate.

Finally if the numbers are too great to analyse in detail or if there is no time in the presentation then subtle repetition of information using language from each of the sense types (V A K) will help everyone get what they need in the way they prefer to learn.

I hope this helps - let me know if you have any further questions.

Kind regards,
Andrew

Management Training tip:

Setting To Do Lists

Improve your time management techniques by writing down your daily to do list for that day on the previous evening. You then don't have to get up and wonder "what do I need to do today" - you just hit the ground running.
