Coding for accessing data in a database via vba coding

When attending the 2003 VBA Advanced course, we covered getting data from a database through VBA coding. I asked Stephen, the trainer, if it were possible to specify that only data of a certain criteria be obtained. For example, get data between for within X table/query from 01/08/10 to 31/08/10. Stephen said it was possible and he would email me some sample coding, however this email has yet to come through - and the course finished on 2nd September.

Therefore is there anyone who can help with this please? I need to know the code to say I want to go into X database and get data from X date to Y date.

Thanks
