Embedding a PDF

If I have a number of high res PDF's whats the best way of importing them into power point whilst keeping the file size down. At the moment my ppt docs can be as big as 150MB.

RE: Embedding a PDF

Hi Rebecca

Thank you for your question. Is your presentations still quite large before the PDFs are added? If so you may be able to compress any images to make the initial file size more acceptable.

You can do this by clicking on an image then under Picture Tools, on the Format tab, in the Adjust group, click Compress Pictures then click Options, and then under Target Output, click the resolution that you want.

If you have to save your 2007 version presentation to 2003 format then the file size will increase to cope with recreating 2007 features in a way that PowerPoint 2003 can handle.

You can find some more check-lists here
http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00034.htm

Finally it may be possible to compress the PDF files you are working with. This is done outside of PowerPoint. Check the software used to making the PDFs as it may have an option to make compressed PDF files.

I hope this helps - do let us know if you have any further questions.

Kind regards,
Andrew

PowerPoint tip:

Ways to make exact copies of shapes

There are several ways of making exact copies (duplicates) of shapes you have already drawn in PowerPoint:

1. Use Copy and Paste.

2. Select the shape you wish to duplicate and use Ctrl + D.

3. Select the shape to be duplicated, then hold down the Ctrl key while you drag to the position where you want the duplicate shape to appear.
