Headings

How do you give excel documents headings without effecting the column sizes?

RE: Headings

Hi Amanda, thanks for the query. I'd suggest two ways of doing this. The first would be to turn on Word Wrapping for those columns with headings. Select, say, column A and then click Format-Cells and select the Alignment tab. Make sure the wrap text option is ticked and then click OK. The result should be text which wraps within the cell, but doesn't alter the column width. In the alignment tab, also play with the Orientation dial (by clicking a dragging on the "hand of the watch", this will allow you to put text on its side, should you need to.

Secondly, you can give Excel documents a heading by clicking View-Header and Footer and then Custom Header. What you put in here as a heading will have no impact on column widths - but this is more usually used for general "Client Name" headings.

Hope this helps,

Anthony
