Slide numbers

Hi

How do I insert page numbers to the slides so that they show when the presentation is running and when printed as slides or handouts? I have tried going to insert, slide number and apply to all but nothing seems to happen.

Thanks
Kate

RE: Slide numbers

Hi Kate

Thank you for your question. Using Insert > Slide number ought to work. Make sure at the bottom of the dialog box you have checked the Slide number box.

If that's all ticked you may have a presentation that has the number area switched off. To check if this is the case go to the View menu and choose Master > Slide Master

From the Format menu choose Master Layout. If Slide Number is not ticked put a tick in the box and click OK.

Switch back to normal view (View > Normal) and you should see your slide numbers in the footer.

I hope this helps - let us know if you have any further questions.

Kind regards,
Andrew

PowerPoint tip:

Close a presentation with a keyboard shortcut

A quick way to close a presentation in Powerpoint is to use Control+W.

You may be prompted to save changes, and you can press S to do this.

You won't need to use the mouse, and it is easier if you are using the keyboard to use a keyboard shortcut.
