Can I record my own narration?

Thank you for your question
In Answer: Yes you can (obviously you need a multimedia pc with speakers and microphone)
To record basic sounds and insert them on a particular slide: Highlight the slide; Go to Insert>Movies and Sounds, Click Record Sound and follow the steps to record your sounds.
To record a narration: Go to Menu command Slide Show and Click Record Narration: Follow the options available. I hope that helps ... Pete
