Thank you for the question and welcome to the forum.
The main reasons why you would export a PowerPoint presentation to Word are:
1. You want to create a handout which is easy for people to print off. Once the handout is in the Word document, all someone has to do is open and print the Word document - they don't need to know how to change the print settings in PowerPoint to produce a handout.
2. You want to create a customised handout which is different to the options you are given when you print handouts from PowerPoint.
