Organisation charts in Powerpoint 2007

Im creating an organisation chart but i cant seem to find a way to create a contector with more than one strand? For example, the 'elbow conector' - is there a way to make this connect 2 or 3-ways?

Many thanks

Hi Jenny,

This will depend on how you are creating your Organisation chart. If you are creating your own boxs and wanting to put your own lines in then you will need to be on the Home Tab, and then in the Drawing box use the shapes option. This will give you connectors and work like the older versions of powerpoint. If you are using Hierarchy (org charts) through Smartart which is on the Insert tab then you can't use connectors. The only way to get around this is to do your org chart through hierarchy, and then once finished go back to the Home tab and use connectors from there. The only downside to this is that you don't get the cursor snapping to the middle of each side.

Martin

Thanks for this Martin. I am creating my own chart from scratch. I cant find the 'Shapes Option' you refer to in the Drawing Box. There is a section with lots of different shape choices, but the connectors in there are the ones I was trying to use previously and having problems with (see my previous post). Am I doing something wrong?

Many thanks

RE: Organisation charts in Powerpoint 2007

Morning Jenny,

On the home tab there are six sections Clipboard, slides, font, paragraph, Drawing, and editing. The section you need is Drawing. The option within there that you need is Shapes which is on the left, and when you click it you will get all shapes available. Connectors are under Lines, but they work the same as connectors did. Once you have selected the line you want, the box disappears and you get the snapping option on the shape as you did before.

Hope this explains it better
Martin

PowerPoint tip:

Hide toolbar and arrow pointer in slide show view

When viewing a presentation in slideshow view, the slideshow toolbar and arrow pointer can be seen on your slides.

To hide these temporarily from your audience's view, you can press 'A' or '=' on the keyboard. Pressing one of these keys again will make the toolbar and arrow pointer reappear.
