Mail merge from public folders in Outlook 2003

Hi,
Can you do a mail merge from public folders in outlook 2003? If so does any have any instructions as I'm struggling. To make it worse I need to apply a filter as I only want some of my contacts to be in the mail merge.

If you can't do a mail merge using public folders is there any way around this? I've tried exporting my public folders into excel but it doesn't seem to work, it only takes the contacts in my personal contact folder.

I'm at my wits end!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks,
Jo

RE: Mail merge from public folders in Outlook 2003

Hi Jo, Thank you for your post, in answer to your question, initially please check your permissions for the public folder, you must have at least Author permissions. Public folders are a great way of imparting information and knowledge but they are just that, information sources.
If you wish to use information from the public folder then items can be posted to a mail folder by first saving the folder address to your Personal Address Book, your PAB can then be used by Word to extract information for your mail merge, allowing filtering and sorting as required.
I hope that helped, best regards Pete.
