If after creating a spreadsheet, I find it I have laid it out badly and want to swap rows for columns or vice a versa is this possible and how?

Yes,
Select the cells in the column you want to make into a row
click in a clear area, and right click > Paste Special
Tick the TRANSPOSE box
OK
done.
