Column widths

What is the best way to keep all columns same widths

RE: column widths

Hi Sue

Thanks for your question.

There are two features you can use together to keep columns the same width, even once you start typing into a cell.

Firstly, select the columns you wish to make a uniform width, then go to Format-Column-Width.

You can then enter a width into the box (standard width is 8.43).

Secondly, turn on the Wrap Text feature before you start typing into the column (otherwise the column width will expand automatically).

You can do this by selecting the columns you have changed the width of then going to Format-Cells-Alignment and ticking the Wrap Text box down the bottom of the dialogue box and clicking OK.

Excel tip:

Page Break Preview in Excel 2010 (Hint/tip)

If you select View then Workbook Views then Page Break Preview, you will be able to view how your Excel spreadsheet will be split across multiple pages when printed. Even better, you can also drag a page break to a new place. Excel will then scale down your entire worksheet to fit the information you want on the pages you want.
