Conditional Formatting; hiding conditions
Hello,
I have set a series of 'text that contains' conditions for conditional formatting on a workbook that will have multiple users. I want to instruct users to enter a value that will set the formatting, but for that value not to appear in the cell.
For example, the text 'PM: ' gets the cell to turn red, so if the user enters: 'PM: Go for a walk', the cell turns red and displays the text: "PM: Go for a walk'. Can I set a condition that allows the user to enter the same text but for the 'PM: ' part to be hidden? So, the cell would turn red and would only display the text 'Go for a Walk'.
The spreadsheet is for external users and the conditional formatting code will be confusing.
RE: Conditional Formatting; hiding conditions
Hello Paul,
Conditional formatting unfortunately applies a rule to the entire string of text in a cell. All I could suggest is to instruct users to type "PM:" in one column and the rest of the text in the next column, then still shade the first cell and text the same colour.
I hope this helps.
Kind regards
