Conditional Formatting - icon sets

I've used a traffic light icon set on a report. Is it possible to insert a key to the traffic light rules so the reader knows what they mean?

RE: Conditional Formatting - icon sets

Hello Cathy,

Thank you for your question regarding using a key to explain what parameters have been used in conditional formatting.

If you click wherever you have cells that are conditionally formatted then choose Manage Rules then click the edit rule button. You can now see the paramenters for your icon sets. Now all you have to do is print the screen using the PrtSc button and then crop the picture as desired.

Place the key above the data and then freeze panes so that whenever you scroll down the key will always be visible.

I have attached a sample file which shows the key.

I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.

If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?

Have a great day.

Excel tip:

Creating a range of monthly payments as text

You could use a formula to create a range of payment ie. payment amount for x% to y% rate with fixed terms and principle.

The text that would be "between Xamount and Yamount".

Here is how to do it.

1 Use the PMT function to get your monthly payments figure or whatever frequency of payments that you choose he start range.

See PMT under Excel Help

2. Nest these in the ROUND function to round decimals see ROUND under Excel Help

3. Concatenate this using "&" and concatenate " to " and concatenate "Between ".

4. Concatenate the above to PMT function for the end range

ie.

="Between "&ROUND((PMT1),decimal places)&" and "&ROUND((PMT2),decimal places)
