Hyperlink for email

Can I create a hyperlink in excel that links to a Microsoft Outlook 2010 email?

RE: Hyperlink for email

Hello Louise,

Hope you enjoyed your Microsoft Office 2010 Upgrade course with Best STL.

Thank you for your question regarding creating a hyperlink in Excel that links to an email address in Outlook.

Here's a couple of ways to do this:

1) Type some text into a cell. Right-click the cell and click Hyperlink... Then in the Insert Hyperlink dialog box click the E-Mail Address button at the bottom left side. Type the email address into the Address field and click OK.

If you desire to you can add a screen tip by clicking the required button at the top right corner and then typing whatever text you wish to appear when someone hovers over the hyperlink.

2) Insert a shape from the Insert ribbon. Right-click the shape and follow the same procedure as above. Add some text to the shape (use a sensible shape for this) which will replace the need for adding a screen tip.

Give this a try!

I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.

If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?

Have a great day.

RE: Hyperlink for email

Hi Rodney

I meant an actual email rather than an email address. I have found out a way of doing that since. Save the email by choosing 'save as' into a file and link it from there. Thanks for your response anyway.

Many thanks and kind regards

Louise Smith.

Excel tip:

Saving your Excel Spreadsheet as a CSV File

In situations where you need to save your Excel spreadsheet as a CSV file, follow these simple steps.

Click the File tab and click Save As.
Enter a name in the File name field.
Click the drop-down arrow next to the Save as type field to select the file type. Scroll down the list and select CSV (comma delimited) (*.CSV)
Click Save

The data will now be saved to a separate CSV file which can be used in different applications.
