Can the lookup value have formulas?

Thank you for your question, and apologies for the delay in reply.

According to Excel Help, the lookup value needs to be a value, a reference, or a text string, so it would suggest that a lookup value can't be a formula.

Excel tip:

3D formulas find and replace

After you know all the components of a 3D reference, you can change them to suit by using a localised Find and replace crt+f, if need be.
