Sharing an Access Database

I have written my access database and placed it on our file server. I have placed a shortcut on 5 pc's but if it's already open on 2 computers it wont let any of the other pc's open it . They don't show any error messages, they just do nothing. Please can you advise, i'm using Access 2003 if that helps. Cheers

RE: Sharing an Access Database

Hi Simon,

Could you clarify how you placed the database on the server?

Did you use the "database splitter" utility to create a front end and a backend?

If you did then we need to look in detail at what you did. If you didn't then we will need to guide you through the process.

Regards

Access tip:

Create An Inaccessible Field On A Form

There is sometimes a need to make a field in a form look like a normal field but be completely inaccessible to the user. To do this:

In the Field's Properties
Set the ENABLED property to No
Set the LOCKED property to Yes

The field will not grey out, but the user will not be able to do anything with it.
