Why would I need to use Macro's?

Macros are useful for speeding up or automating tasks that you carry out regularly in Excel that require you to go through a number of steps in order to complete the task.

The arrows to the left of the worksheets are used to move between one sheet at a time or first / last worksheet, but if you right click on the arrow buttons it gives you all worksheets in your workbook.
