Charts in Excel

Why does line iN a line chart not start at left margin (y) but some way into graph?

RE: Charts in Excel

Hi Alan

Thanks for your question.

The line starts at the first data point ,which is positioned in the middle of the first category (X axis label). Thus there will be a gap. If you can give me more detail as to what you are trying to achieve, I can perhaps guide you further.

Regards

Stephen

RE: Charts in Excel

Thank you. I have an excel table to convert into a graph. It compares the baseline figure as it was at the end of September 2009 with the figures at the end of each subsequent quarter. The x axis is the quarters; the y axis is the quantity (actually the number of pages in documents issued). So there is one flat baseline and one rising and falling line. But I want both to begin at the left hand side of the table. If the data point is the problem, could I state it differently to get the desired result? I know that a previous team member was able to do this. If I could email you direct I could send an example.

Excel tip:

Quick Absolute Cell References

When entering cell references in a formula you probably click the cell, or you may type in the cell reference. If you require any of the 4 variations, press the F4 key now before you press Enter to toggle around the relative and absolute entries ($signs).

Note that the F4 key outside of editing a formula is the Repeat key to repeat a previous action.
