Opening cell links

Hi there,

I'm just wondering...

When you have a cell with a value linked in from another sheet or workbook, how do you get excel to open up the original sheet to see where exactly the value has come from - rather than going through the file extension in my computer as I've been doing?!

I'm sure there's a shortcut for this but have totally forgotten how to do it.

Thanks very much,

RE: Opening cell links

Hi Elishka, thanks for your query. If you select the cell and then on the Formulas tab click Trace Precedents, you'll see a dashed line and a table icon. Double click on the dashed line and then select the reference in the Go To box that appears. You'll be taken straight to the cell that is linked!

Hope this helps,

Anthony
