Conditional formatting

How do you copy conditional formats?
Does excel 2007 permit the use of a combination of operands in conditional formatting e.g greater than or equal to (>=) ? if yes how does it work?

Thanks

RE: conditional formatting

Hi Teju

Thanks for your question

To copy conditional formatting simply copy and then paste special to the target cell, selecting "Keep Source Formatting".

The Operands in conditional formatting are accessed through commands such as "Greater than or equal to" etc. Go to conditional formatting and select "New Rule". Then choose "Format only cells that contain".

Hope this helps

Stephen

RE: conditional formatting

Thanks.

In addditon to paste special, can the format painter also be used to serve the same purpose (i.e. copying conditional formating)? Is on method better than the other?

Regards

RE: conditional formatting

Hi Teju

This is in fact the method used by the format painter. The two are actually identical.

Excel tip:

Colouring cells containing formulas

Cells in a worksheet can contain values or they can contain formulas. You may wish to identify all the cells in your worksheet that contain formulas by colouring those cells.

Follow these steps:
1. Choose Edit > Go To menu, or press either F5 or Ctrl+G. Excel displays the Go To dialog box.
2. Click Special. Excel displays the Go To Special dialog box.
3. Select the Formulas radio button option.
4. Select OK.

At this point, every formula cell in the worksheet is selected, and those cells can be coloured formatted as desired.
