How do you select the correct data for a chart?

Hi Katherine,

Thank you for your question.

In an ideal world the data should be arranged in columns with field headings.

If you had the following data below from A1 to B5:

Name Sales
Simon 23000
Desmond 35000
Miriam 40000
Alicia 50000

Select the entire range including the headings as this automatically names the Value series as Sales.

Excel tip:

Hiding and unhiding rows using the keyboard

CTRL + 9 hides your columns and CTRL + SHIFT + ( unhides them although you would need to highlight the row letters either side as per normal
