Arrows and Lines

How to you join an arrow or line between 2 boxes so that it moves with the boxes as you change the position or size of the boxes?

RE: Arrows and Lines

Hi John

Thanks for your question.

Create your two shapes to link. Two squares are easiest. Then from your shapes list pick a line shape.

Hover your mouse-pointer (which will be in the shape of a fine cross-hair) over one of your shapes - you will see red dots appear around the borders of the shape. These mark the points that can be used as connection points. Click on one of the red dots and drag to draw a line towards the other shape. As your mouse crosses the border of the second shape it too will show red connector dots. Drag the line to one of these dots and then let go. The line will now connect the shapes. If you move either square the line will draw to maintain its connection.

I hope this helps - do let us know if you have any further questions.

Kind regards,
Andrew

PowerPoint tip:

Creating perfectly symmetrical shapes in PowerPoint

Are you a perfectionist when it comes to drawing shapes in PowerPoint?

If you hold down the Shift key whilst drawing a shape from the Drawing toolbar, you can create perfectly symmetrical circles and squares; and perfectly straight lines.
