Creating charts in Powerpoint

Is it easier to create a chart in Excel and paste this into a presentation or create from scratch in Powerpoint

RE: creating charts in Powerpoint

Hi Susan,
Thank you for your question,
In reply: This is one of those 6 or 2 x 3 questions, it depends on your requirements. The actual creation is not that much different in either program, possibly a bit easier in Excel.

I think creating in Excel and then linking to PowerPoint is better as the underlying chart data can be updated if the Excel worksheet data is changed, making your chart much more relevant. However this is purely my opinion. I hope that has helped ... Pete

PowerPoint tip:

Preview slide show effects without changing views

It is possible to preview how a slide will look in slideshow view while working on your presentation, without changing views.

While you are editing your presentation, hold down the CTRL key and click the slide show view button.

This opens a small preview window on your screen which shows the particular slide you are working on in slideshow view. Press the Esc key to close the preview.
